Non- Fiction Addiction - See Inside the History of Britain

If there is one thing that is guaranteed to put a child off learning about history for life, it's a stuffy old text book peppered with dull, black and white photography of which there are far too many adorning our library shelves. Hooray then for Usborne who continue to breath technicolor, interactive life into this most interesting of subjects.

The children recieved a heavy, beautifully illustrated and as is always the case with Usborne, well presented hard back copy of 'See Inside the History of Britain '. The book covers British history from Early Britain, through Tudor times until the Second World War. This isn't an in depth look at each hisorical period, they have oodles of other books that will do that ( The Usborne History of Britain  to name one) it is an introduction to British history. It whets the appetite of the reader stiring up an interest in various aspects of history which can then be futher explored.

My eldest read the book from cover to cover enlisting help from his little brother who eagerly lifted the flaps for him. Together they found out about some key dates, famous people and events in British history. The detailed and lively illustrations held the children's attention very well as there was so much to examine.

It is a marvellous history book and is commended by us for its educational content. There are many other books in the Usborne 'See Inside' series which make excellent resources for a number of topics. We highly recommend 'See Inside the History of Britain' as an exciting addition to any child's non-fiction book collection.

This title is available for purchase from Usborne .

Watch out for our review of another excellent Usborne title coming soon.
