The #Homeedlinkup Week 9

Welcome once again to the #Homeedlinkup!

I have been busy organising and planning my children's work for next year and it really is taking some time. I wasn't going to do this until December but the combination of glorious weather and their local friends all being around to play made it a sensible time to have a break. The children have been heavily involved in tidying, rearranging, suggesting topics and have generally been rather helpful although this willingness to help seems to stop at the threshold to their bedroom ( it looks like a wild animal has rampaged through their toys and wardrobe). The workroom walls are sporting some truly fantastic posters, their new drawers are inhabited by new books and pencils and my 'mum has a plan' box is filling up nicely. Although we will continue to learn, explore and invent during August, September will be when the books come out and more structured learning takes place. Theo has requested a more structured approach to his education so this is the way we will proceed this year - it is always open to change though.

Life, Love and Literature wrote a post about free resources last week which came at just the right time for me as I was ordering a few more myself. We have many of the resources which are mentioned in the post but I have also ordered a highway safety pack and a farming pack as a result of this information. Thank you!

I enjoyed reading an interesting post about how to encourage a stubborn child to read by EducatingRue. I really do believe that children begin to read when they are ready and that pushing just turns them off the idea. This is a lovely post and well worth a read.

I am a Chaucer lover so when I read Angelic Scalliwags post about her children's enthusiasm for the great man I was in my element. They put on a magnificent play which I wish that I could have witnessed. They are certainly an inspirational bunch!

The new site is tantalisingly close to fruition which is why I may seem a little distracted at the moment (I'm excited). It is going to be so much easier to navigate and there will be a few extra features as well which I can't wait to share with you. There will be giveaways too ( plural) so keep an eye out for the new site launch.

Thank you to everyone who linked up last week again and also to everyone who emailed me with comments and queries.

Here are the guidelines for the linky.

The link-up is for any home-education based post. It could just be a photograph from the week, your favourite post or a note about a particular success.

If you don't blog but want to get involved then simply post a comment at the bottom of this post so that we can 'meet' you. Nobody wants to click on a link and zoom off to find themselves on an advertising post so please don't link-up with ads. The only other rule is just the good manners one - keep it clean and polite please.

I am really, really looking forward to reading more fabulous posts this week and meeting other home-educators. Please help spread the word about the linky in in doing so the positive message about home-education.

Don't forget to spread a little happiness by reading and commenting on other posts on this link-up.

Have a great week!
