Inside the Story House - Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?

Dr. Seuss has been delighting children for years with his humorous, amusing and smile eliciting stories. My youngest son received a beautifully presented copy of 'Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?' from Harper-Collins through the Story House letter box. He was able to read the front cover independently and then started 'mooing' rather magnificently.

'Oh, the wonderful things
Mr. Brown can do!
He can go like a cow.
He can go moo moo
Mr. Brown can do it.
How about you? '

Well, yes. My son quickly established that he could moo and went on to discover that he is also quite adept at popping, buzzing, blurping, eeking and he can do a pretty good 'dibble dibble' given the opportunity. The riotous rhymes, kooky illustrations and escalating utter daftness of the story are stupendously entertaining for a youngster such as mine.

'Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?' teaches children about sounds and noises whilst never letting them know that they are actually learning anything much at all. For me the genius of Dr. Seuss is that he ignites a lifelong passion and a love for reading in children in such a magically effortless manner. This particular title is ideal for beginner readers and will start them on their journey of discovery through all the other much loved Dr. Seuss tales.

We love this book but then we love all Dr. Seuss books so it comes as no surprise that 'Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You ?' receives a thumbs-up, and if it could the thumb would be wearing a stripy hat and wacky moustache especially for the occasion.
